Your dentist will discuss your general health with you, so please let us know if you have had any recent medical issues or if you’re currently taking medication. This helps us keep your dental care safe and tailored to your needs.
Before your new patient exam (or if it has been a while since your last visit) we’ll ask you to complete a short medical and dental health questionnaire. Please arrive a little early to allow time for this.
During your check-up, your dentist will examine your mouth, gums, tongue, and the top of your throat to ensure everything is healthy. Let us know if you’ve noticed any discomfort, swelling, or changes. Your gum health will also be assessed, and if needed, we may recommend seeing one of our hygienists such as Valda or Ella for personalised gum care.
Your teeth will also be checked for sensitivity, cracks, worn fillings, or signs of decay. If necessary, your dentist may take X-rays to help diagnose issues that aren’t visible to the eye, such as decay between teeth or early signs of gum problems.
For advice on maintaining your oral health between visits, you can also read our Dental Hygiene page, which covers home care tips and what to expect during a hygiene appointment.
